Things I Have Been Putting In My Head Today
In the interest of being more open about what goes on behind the scenes here, I’m listing the links that I’ve followed and found interesting enough to read thoroughly – or promise myself to read thoroughly as soon as I can.
First was Corporate meltdown leaves renters in limbo. Renters are so often invisible in mainstream media, and it was both refreshing and scary to read this article. Why do we have so few rights? Home ownership may be the ideal in America but does that mean renters should be able to have their very homes pulled from them with little or no notice?
Then came Single, Pregnant, and Panicked, which I haven’t yet finished. But I recognize the nonchalant attitude toward pregnancy that I had in my late teens and early twenties that the article talks about. Honestly, I didn’t think pregnancy was something that could happen to me, at least not very easily – much like teenagers do incredibly stupid things because they don’t think they will die or be seriously harmed. It took two pregnancy scares for me to realize that I needed to be a lot more vigilant about my birth control or I would end up with a situation that I did not want to be in.
I also have an online petition to recover the taxpayer money spent on AIG executive bonuses to sign.
For a little break from reading, I was drawn to some artwork depicting lesbians, which I am considering writing about for Spring’s Sunday Art Chats if I can get my act together.
And finally, I decided to check out at least one article from Tell It WOC Speak and ended up with two (which I also haven’t finished yet because I had to stop writing this post in the middle of it and go to work). The Spirit of the Stairs led me to The Greatest Cliche: The Unexamined Propaganda of “Political Correctness”. The latter interests me especially because ManPants and I had a rather contentious discussion last night about political correctness.
I would probably start composing a post about something tangentially related to one of these things, but right now I need to shower, eat dinner, and go watch television with ManPants while constructing the cover for an album that I am releasing on my music label.

I signed the petition. That’s a good idea…I will pass it on. Also, did you see that Obama said he would try to block AIG bonuses? I’m interested to see what happens next.
Please do blog about some artwork!

No, I didn’t see that. I really hope it happens. Otherwise, I could use a couple million myself…
I will try! *grumbles about having too much to do*
