The Taking of My Time
I haven’t had much time to blog lately.
My time has been filled with manufacturing tapes.

Just one of the piles of tapes we've been putting together recently.
Add to that recording and packaging multiple waves of orders for these 1700 tapes (and did I mention the records, too?), and at least a week and a half has disappeared.
Of course, there are always other covers to be designed and printed. I spent almost 4 hours today unsuccessfully attempting to create a tape cover that I had a very specific idea for. Apparently, I can’t computer-draw convincing vines.
On top of that, we’ve had a few bands come through town that we were, of course, as hospitable to as we could be. This means more socializing in 24 hours than we normally do in a month (fun but exhausting), plus ignoring our everyday work (like constructing tapes!) and often, clearing precious floor space in our crowded second bedroom/office so that we can do some recording.
My ancient (6-year-old) laptop has been getting increasingly fussy lately, so I now have a brand new one sitting at my feet waiting for those spare moments I can snatch to pile all of my necessary settings and software into it.
I do this all out of love, and realize that these are things that many people would only dream of being able to do, so I feel infinitely privileged. It is definitely worth it. But it doesn’t leave much time or energy for anything other than sleeping, eating, and ogling the occasional charming cat. I have to deprive myself of some sleep to write entries and I am not a pleasant person to be around when I haven’t had the rather exact amount of snoozing that I need.
At the moment, I am so tired, I keep thinking of activities that I could add to this post and then forgetting them before I can even write them down. Coherence and cohesiveness are further blog casualties of my busy life that have kept me from writing.
So the last thing that has been on my mind is anything analytical. Cross your fingers for me that I get some spare moments again soon.
